How to apply Sylk:
Using clean fingers, apply a small amount - around a teaspoonful - to your (or your partner's or both) genital area. Add a few drops of water or saliva or repeat application to reactivate lubricity as sometimes body heat, ambient temperature or prolonged activity can start to dry out any water-based lubricant.

There are approximately 10 uses per 40g bottle but for an extra fun time, you can use the whole bottle. Take care if you're near a spa or on a wet and already slippery bathroom floor! Condoms and safe sex
Massage oils, aromatic oils, baby oils, petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and many hand & body lotions are unsuitable for internal use - especially with condoms and diaphragms - as the oil can quickly break down the latex and make them ineffective. As well, they may irritate tender mucous tissue and could cause an infection. Pregnancy precautions
Although Sylk is not intended as a spermicide, Sylk's pH balance can affect motility, the movement of sperm and should therefore not be used if pregnancy is desired. (Also true of most other personal lubricants available through retail stockists!)

When ovulation occurs, your pH balance changes to around 7 which is a neutral pH state. Sylk has a pH balance of 4.5 - 4.7, similar to the normal vaginal environment, i.e. slightly acidic. This is deliberate to keep the vagina healthy and not alter the balance.

If you're trying for a baby and you need to use a personal lubricant, gynaecologists and obstetricians often stock specialty ones formulated for conception which have a more alkaline composition although these are often very 'chemical'. Naturopaths have suggested using saliva after eating something very alkaline and not brushing your teeth after eating or trying egg white whisked with a little water. Avoid petroleum jelly, massage oils, aromatic oils, baby or other oils made from minerals and containing paraffin and fragrances, at all times.
